Community Clean Up Program

A partnership of the Delaware Solid Waste Authority & Keep Delaware Beautiful

Keep Delaware Beautiful in partnership with the Delaware Solid Waste Authority is pleased to provide the Community Cleanup Program (CCP). Governor Carney initiated the Keep DE Litter Free Campaign and has made cleaning up our beautiful state a priority. We recognize there is common ground among all Delawareans to live in a beautiful litter free environment. Together we can help make that a reality.

The goal of the program is to initiate community cleanups in every district statewide. The program is open to all state legislators. The CCP will provide $2,000 for trash tipping fees at a DSWA site for every Representative District and $4,000 for trash tipping fees at a DSWA site for every Senatorial District. In addition, we can provide resources through Keep Delaware Beautiful to help promote your cleanups through; social media, and listings of your events on the KeepDelawareBeautiful.com site.

Keep Delaware Beautiful contracted to have a statewide litter assessment done in 2018. The key findings indicate we have a serious issue with litter. Over 6,000 pieces of litter could be counted for each highway mile in DE. We recognize that through behavior change we can bolster civic pride and Keep Delaware Beautiful.

Please consider using your CCP funds to have a “Clean Up Day” in your district and have a roll off (large dumpster) dropped off in neighborhoods or a central location for residents to discard any large or bulk items or any (approved for the landfill)  items they would like to get rid of.
